MICHAEL VITALY SAZONOV

Macintosh HD:Users:Matthew:Desktop:untitled folder (500x750):_C5J3287.jpgBorn in Washington, DC, Michael received his Equity Card at The Kennedy Center during the Tennessee Williams Festival in A Streetcar Named Desire with Patricia Clarkson and Amy Ryan.  Michael also appeared in Mister Roberts with Hunter Foster at The Kennedy Center.  Since then he has worked in numerous productions and readings with The Kennedy Center’s Family Theatre.

Most recently Michael appeared in the world premiere of The Mummy in the Closet: The Return of Eva Peron at the Gala Hispanic Theatre in Washington, DC.  Before that he appeared as Martini in One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest at Round House Theatre, in Bethesda, Maryland, where he also appeared as Oscy in Summer of ‘42 and understudied the role of Petya Trofimov in The Cherry Orchard.  Other credits include work at Arena Stage, Center Stage, Theater of the First Amendment, Quotidian Theatre Company, Scena Theatre, Olney Theatre Center, Firebelly Productions, and the Modlin Center for the Arts in Richmond, Virginia.

As a cabaret vocalist and Michael appeared in his debut one man show/cabaret, My Well Schooled Heart, at the Indigo Room at the Atlas Center for the Arts, the Sizzlin’ Summer Series at Signature Theatre, Maggie’s Cabaret, and the Captiol Hill Arts Workshop.  Michael has also appeared in concert at the Arts Club of Washington, the Sizzlin’ Summer Series at Signature Theatre, opening for 2009 Helen Hayes Award Recipient Natascia Diaz, and at Opera International opposite Jessica M. Stecklein.  Selections from his one man show can be heard on Michael’s debut album, My Well Schooled Heart.

His film and television credits include appearances on National Treasure, Minority Report, “Guiding Light”, and “The West Wing”.  Michael has studied at the William Esper Studios, the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and is a graduate of American University’s School of International Service, with a focus in Peace and Conflict Resolution and a Minor in Theatre.  He is a proud member of The DC Cabaret Network and the Actors’ Equity Association.
